Mandani Law is built on strong foundations. Rashesh Mandani is a lawyer with first class experience. Rashesh was an in-house lawyer for the City of Hamilton from 2012 to 2016. As a lawyer for the City of Hamilton, Rashesh managed the legal matters of the $500 million Hamilton Waterfront redevelopment projects, the City of Hamilton’s facilities, and the City of Hamilton’s Recreation Division. At the City Rashesh’s responsibilities included the negotiation and drafting of commercial leases, licences, management agreements, procurement contracts, working with pipeline companies on the movement of pipelines, development works, funding agreements, contribution agreements, and more.

Rashesh Mandani did his articles at the leading Bay Street firm, Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, where he focused on the areas of litigation, corporate law, municipal law, and real estate. His file work involved a variety of interesting and practical matters including a $9 billion merger of two international companies, commercial real estate transactions, court appearances, several major product liability class actions, and municipal law matters.

Prior to his articles, Rashesh worked on patent matters at Currier and Kao LLP including patent applications, patent litigation and patent research. While at Currier & Kao LLP, Rashesh assisted the Society of Interventional Radiology by creating a worldwide database of inventions relating to Radiology (see publication below).

He earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Queen’s University where, under the guidance of Federal Court Justice Stratas, he mooted (mock trial) a constitutional law case in front of Supreme Court Justice Rothstein. At Queen’s, Rashesh was also involved with a year-long consulting project involving the legal, business and technical analysis of a biomass-to-natural gas proposal for Shell Canada in Alberta and British Columbia. The project involved the analysis of whether it would be viable for Shell Canada to take wood damaged by the mountain pine beetle and convert it to methane gas for sale and to obtain carbon credits.

Rashesh earned his Bachelors degree from Ryerson University with Honours in International Economics and Finance. While studying at Ryerson, he founded a successful computer and technical support business which he ran for over six years before selling it to pursue legal studies full time.

Rashesh also completed an internship with the U.S. Commercial Service (U.S. Department of Commerce), where he assisted large American companies to gain access to Canadian markets. His contributions in this role frequently involved him acting as a “middle man” to secure cross-border partnerships. Rashesh helped create a partnership between xMatters, Inc. (formerly AlarmPoint Systems Inc.) and Research In Motion Limited.
